Workers arriving back at their construction site have their temperatures taken.

Thirty-two workers building a train parking lot for Metro Line 18 in Hangtou Town returned to Shanghai on Friday afternoon.

They were the first on active construction sites in Shanghai to be transported by bus from out of town, Shanghai Metro said.

They left from Zongyang County in Tongling, a city in Anhui Province which is about 400 kilometers from Shanghai, and were driven directly to their construction site.

They will be placed in quarantine for 14 days before starting work.

Shanghai Metro said 14 of 196 subprojects in five active projects had started construction, and all subprojects are expected to reopen by the end of March.

The company said the delay could affect schedules for the completion of the work, but it will strive to meet the deadlines together with the other companies involved.
