Over 600,000 students and parents of 12th graders in Hubei Province, the former epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, expressed their gratitude to medics, and many said they want to go to medical school after receiving encouragement from a Shanghai expert.

Dr Zhang Wenhong, the head of Shanghai’s expert coronavirus treatment team, gave his encouragement in a webcast on Wednesday, when all 12th graders in Hubei returned to school to prepare for the college entrance examination.

In addition to giving tips on coronavirus prevention and control in schools, Zhang said he hopes more students will choose to go to medical school and become his colleagues in the future.

Zhang’s suggestion got a great response from Hubei students and many expressed their wish to learn medicine.
