Together at long last.

Fifty couples with one spouse or both having helped fight the novel coronavirus epidemic had a group wedding ceremony at the base of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower on Saturday afternoon.

Most were doctors, nurses, police officers and government employees.

One was Deng Rui, an ICU nurse at Huashan Hospital, who served in a hospital in Wuhan, Hubei Province, for 66 days during the height of novel coronavirus epidemic.

She set out three months after registering for marriage with her husband, an administrative official at Shanghai Financial Court.

“I’m a Hubei native and a nurse, so I had no choice but to go because it was my responsibility,” she said.

Zheng Junhua, vice president of the Shanghai General Hospital and the leader of the first Shanghai medical team to assist Hubei during the epidemic, performed the ceremony.

The wedding was organized by Shanghai General Labor Union, Shanghai Women’s Federation and the Youth League Shanghai.
