Three men have been detained for allegedly stealing mobile phones from Metro passengers, Shanghai police said on Tuesday.

Police launched an investigation on July 10 after a foreigner at the People’s Square Station reported his phone missing after getting on train from Nanjing Road W.

Later that day, police at the Xujiahui and Disney Resort stations had theft reports from two other passengers.

Police soon identified three suspects and all three phones have been recovered.

Police said the suspects had arrived in Shanghai from out of town on July 9.
