14 new COVID-19 cases reported in Shanghai

Shanghai reported 14 imported novel coronavirus cases on Monday while three patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Tuesday morning.

The first patient is a Chinese working in Britain who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 14.

The second to the fifth patients are Chinese working in Singapore who took the same flight and arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 15.

The sixth to the 14th patients are Chinese working in the United Arab Emirates who arrived at the airport on August 15 on the same flight.

All the patients have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while 202 close contacts on the planes have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

So far, of all the 500 imported cases, 417 have been discharged upon recovery and 83 are still hospitalized.

Four imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Monday.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
