The city of Jiaozuo, in central China's Henan Province, is offering free admission to all 4A- and 5A-level attractions to Shanghai tourists until the end of October, Jiaozuo's cultural and tourism authorities announced in Shanghai.

Tourist attractions such as the Yuntai Mountain, Jiaozuo Movie Town, Shennong Mountain and the Qingtian River are among those opening their doors.

Discounted accommodations will be offered to Shanghai travelers by hotels and minsu (Chinese version of B&B) in Jiaozuo as well, according to the Jiaozuo City Administration of Culture, Radio and Television and Tourism.

Travel agencies in the two cities inked agreements in Shanghai on Wednesday, and shopping coupons are being distributed to high-speed railway passengers bound for Jiaozuo.

The intangible cultural heritage of Jiaozuo, such as the Dangyangyu kiln, Yellow River inkstones and Qinghua bamboo-weaving, were also displayed in Shanghai.

Jiaozuo has about 300,000 people employed in the cultural and tourism industry and they were badly affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic, the administration said.

The city will conduct activities such as webcasts and in-depth group tours in the Yangtze River Delta region to boost its tourism market, it said.

It is expected that Henan Province and Shanghai will enhance exchange in culture and tourism to achieve a win-win situation, said Song Liping, Party secretary of the Culture and Tourism Department of  Henan Province.

"Shanghai and Henan are highly complementary in terms of cultural and tourist resources, and there is huge potential in the cooperation," said Yu Xiufen, director of the Shanghai Administration of Culture and Tourism.
