Revolutionary past exhibited in history museum

Visitors can see 97 artifacts from nine museums around China during an exhibition at Shanghai History Museum till November 8.

An exhibition featuring relics of the period from the founding of the Communist Party of China in 1921 to the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949 opened at Shanghai History Museum on Friday.

Visitors are presented 97 relics from nine museums around China, including a copy of the German edition of “The Communist Manifesto” from 1872, a copy of the English version of the pamphlet from 1888 and a copy of the Chinese edition of “Red Star over China” by Edgar Snow with an autograph from the author.

Among the artifacts are also caricatures created by university students in Shanghai during the Chinese civil war between Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China.

The exhibition is found on the first floor of the East Building of the museum and will last till November 8. Admission is free. Afterward, it will move to the Capital Museum in Beijing; Xibaipo Memorial in Shijiazhuang city, Hebei Province; and Hebei Museum.

Next year will mark the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
