Mayor Gong Zheng meets Vietnamese ambassador

Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met Pham Sao Mai, Vietnam’s Ambassador to China, in Shanghai yesterday.

“This year marks the 70th anniversary of China-Vietnam diplomatic ties, and we are willing to further strengthen friendly exchanges with Vietnam and welcome enterprises from Vietnam to invest in Shanghai according to the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative,” Gong told his guest.

The mayor also welcomed Vietnam to join the upcoming 3rd China International Import Expo and the 10th National Flower Expo to be held in Chongming next year.

Vietnam and China should join hands in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and further strengthen cooperation in economy and trade, Pham said, adding: “We are willing to join the 3rd China International Import Expo and the 10th National Flower Expo actively, and we welcome enterprises from Shanghai to invest in Vietnam.”

Ninh Thanh Cong, consul general of Vietnam in Shanghai, also joined the meeting.
