Traffic accident kills four students on way to ski resort

Four students were killed and another five injured after their minibus skidded off the road en route to a ski resort in northeastern China on December 31.

The nine female students were seniors from Beijing Forest University, the school said in a statement on its Weibo account Wednesday.

Four died on the scene and among the injured five, two are still struggling for their lives.

The accident happened around 7am when the minibus skidded off the road and crashed into a ditch in order to avoid another accident which had occurred, the university said, citing local police.

The students were on their way to Xuexiang Village, a famous ski resort in Heilongjiang.

According to video taken at the accident scene, the minibus was seriously damaged and the road was covered with snow.
