Authorities in Hangzhou's Lin'an District, in neighboring Zhejiang Province, are distributing 100,000 Lin'an culture and tourism passes which offer free admission to 13 local tourist attractions as part of efforts to revitalize the district's tourism industry.

The giveaway was announced during a webcast targeting tourists in the Yangtze River Delta region on Thursday, just prior to the Labor Day holiday.

The free e-passes promise unlimited admissions to destinations such as the Tianmu Mountain, Daming Mountain, Tianmu Grand Valley, Baishui Stream and Qingshan Lake scenic areas through the end of this year, the Lin'an District government said.

The e-pass, valued at 1,500 yuan (US$212), is being distributed via online travel platforms such as Meituan and Trip.com at 10am daily through the five-day Labor Day holiday.

Starting from May 11, they will be distributed every Monday.

Another 10,000 half-price coupons to minsu (Chinese-style B&Bs) in Lin'an will also be distributed online.

During the online broadcast, six village routes were released by the Lin'an District Culture, Radio and Television, Tourism and Sports Administration, and audiences had a "cloud tour" of the Qingshan Lake and Tianmu Yuexiang Village scenic areas. The event attracted more than 6 million watchers.

"The Yangtze River Delta region is an important tourist source for Lin'an, and the webcast aims to present the beauty and ecology of Lin'an to tourists via the Internet," said Lu Yicheng, vice director of the district.
