Ningbo looks to delta region for recovery in tourism
Ningbo City in neighboring Zhejiang Province has kicked off a cultural and tourism promotion season in the Yangtze River Delta region with the first stop in Shanghai featuring webcasts, seafood sales, new tourism itineraries, driving tours and exclusive high-speed railway group trips.
Ningbo has earmarked 90 million yuan (US$13 million) in incentives to boost the recovery of its cultural and tourism industry, and Shanghai is the center of the promotion campaign, Wang Cheng, director of the Ningbo Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism announced in Shanghai on Tuesday.
Nine promotional activities will be featured, including events in other major cities in the delta region and driving tours bringing about 10,000 travelers to Ningbo.
The bureau also released a number of tourism routes featuring seafood tasting, culture, health and business in Shanghai and a list of 10 most popular attractions in the city such as Qiantong ancient town, Xuedou Mountain, Tianyi Pavilion and Hangzhou Bay National Wetland Park.
Ningbo and Shanghai have close economic, social and cultural connections, and their tourism cooperation and exchange is deep as well, said Li Jun, head of the Publicity Department of Ningbo, in Shanghai.
"Against the backdrop of the accelerated process of the Yangtze River Delta region integration, Ningbo will beef up its integration and build a delta region cultural and tourism belt and an international leisure tourist destination with canals and Maritime Silk Road features," he said.
This is Ningbo's first cross-province major market campaign since the resumption of cross-province group tours in July, and similar promotional activities will also be held in cities such as Nanjing, Wuxi and Hefei in the delta region.
