Zelmani: Making music to soothe the body and mind

Sophie Zelmani will perform her special repertoire of adult alternative and folk music in Shanghai.

Born in Stockholm in 1972, Zelmani started playing the guitar at the age of 14. Without any professional training, this self-taught talent became a singer and songwriter and started to make music at a local studio.

Since her debut self-titled album in 1995, the prolific artist has released another 13 albums including “Sing and Dance,” “Love Affair,” “Memory Loves You,” “Soul” and “My Song,” which soothe the body and the mind of her audiences. Featuring her unique music style and unconventionally graceful voice, Zelmani masters in uniting “the beautiful, bare and naked with a burning intensity” in a distinctive fashion. 

Zelmani fully expresses her inner-self in her songs. Admiring a certain type of natural flow, once she said in an interview that during the writing process of her masterpieces “the only things that works for me is to follow my instincts exactly and trust wherever it takes the music.”

Zelmani has continued to produce albums while making only a small number of public appearances due to shyness. However, she still enjoys flying around the world with her music and she will come back to Shanghai and get united with her fans in a live house.
