Sixty-four scenic spots across Shanghai will offer half-price tickets between September 9 and 15 during the Shanghai Tourism Festival, the Shanghai Tourism Administration announced today.

Some popular tourist attractions on the list include Shanghai's landmark Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai Jinmao Tower, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, Shanghai World Financial Center, Jinshanzui fishing village, Jinjiang Amusement Park and Shanghai Happy Valley.

Ancient towns including Fengjing, Xinchang and Nanxiang are also included. Parks such as Shanghai Zoo, Shanghai Wildlife Park, Chenshan Botanical Garden and Gucun Park and museums like Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Shanghai Natural History Museum and Shanghai Film Museum are also on the list.

It has become a tradition for popular scenic spots in Shanghai to offer half-price tickets on May 19, China Tourism Day, and during the annual Shanghai Tourism Festival since 2011.

Long queues are expected at some popular tourism attractions because of the discounts, the administration said today, reminding tourists to make preparation in advance and avoid peak.

This year's tourism festival, Shanghai's biggest tourism extravaganza, will run between September 9 and October 6.

A variety of food, light, music, sports and art events will be featured during the festival. Music concerts, cycling events, marathons, bazaars and a shutterbug contest will be held along the Huangpu River.
