Shanghai Party Secretary Han Zheng attended the Mayor of Shanghai's 29th International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council (IBLAC) on Sunday.

Han met former chairmen and chairwomen of the council and other attendees, including: Maurice Greenberg, chief executive officer of C.V. Starr & Co Inc; Orit Gadiesh, chairwoman of Bain & Company; Martin Sorrell, chief executive officer of WPP Group; and Mark Weinberger, chairman and CEO of EY. Weinberger is also current chairman of IBLAC.

Han thanked all members for their contribution to Shanghai’s economy and IBLAC. He said the theme of this year’s council meeting, “Towards a Global City of Excellence,” was highly important for the city’s future development.

Shanghai has seen rapid changes but as a mega-sized metropolis it has to cope with further challenges in areas like housing, senior care, population management and employment management, Han said.

Shanghai’s ambition to become a global financial center requires it to attract more talent and absorb more international experience, he added. He took the chance to express his gratitude for the IBLAC members’ contribution to making Shanghai a better city.

Han wished a great success for the 29th meeting of IBLAC.

The members said Shanghai was a dynamic city with a successful economy, technology, and innovation. They hoped they could all further contribute to its economy and development.

Zhuge Yujie, secretary general of the CPC Shanghai Committee, also attended the meeting.
