London is coming to Minhang

Minhang District will build a "London Street" in Meilong town to include recreation, leisure, catering and shopping. It will open to the public in 2020.

London Street aims to recreate the architectural style of the Bund.

According to the developer Heping Group, London Street will comprise a tourism area containing an architectural complex of 18 British style buildings — among them London Bridge, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the London Eye.

“London Street will generate more than 3 billion yuan (US$452 million) tax revenue after it opens. Meanwhile we estimate that the project will offer more than 10,000 job opportunities to the public,” said Zhou Heping, the developer's president.
