Changning streets closed for half marathon

Some major streets in Changning District will be closed on Sunday morning for the half marathon taking place.

The government said on Wednesday that vehicles going in the direction of Hongqiao International Airport are advised to take Yan'an Elevated Road and the Outer Ring Road during the race.

The 2017 Changning International Half Marathon will start from Changning Road at Huichuan Road near Zhongshan Park and end at Yan'an Middle School.

The race will be held from 7:30 to 10:30am.

On Sunday, from 6 to 8am, the northern part of Changning Road between Dingxi Road and Huichuan Road will be shut to traffic, while Maotai Road between Weining Road and Beihong Road will be entirely closed from 8:15 to 10:35am.

From 7:30 to 10:30am, all streets along the race will be shut down except Changning Road between Huichuan Road and Hami Road, Beidi Road between Hami Road and Jianhe Road, Tianshan Road W. between Guangshun Road N. and Suining Road, as well as Youle Road between Lianhong Road and Hongqiao Road where the streets will be partially closed.

As bikes are banned too, bike riders are advised to walk with their bikes on sidewalks along the streets, and bike riders and pedestrians who need to cross the streets will need to be guided by the police, the government said.

Also, from 6:30 to 10:30am, buses that run along the route of the race will be either canceled or rerouted.
