Li Qiang, secretary of the CPC Shanghai Committee, met Howard Davies, chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group and head of International Advisory Council of China Securities Regulatory Commission on November 27.

CSRC Chairman Liu Shiyu and a delegation of the advisory council also attended the meeting.

Li congratulated on his guests for successfully convening the 14th International Advisory Council Meeting of China Securities Regulatory Commission. He said Shanghai has attracted more and more financial institutes and talents ever since the country adopted the opening and reform policies, and Shanghai now is working hard to build itself into an international financial center in line with the directions of the 19th CPC National Congress held in October.

Under the precondition of risk control, Shanghai will continue to push ahead its financial reforms and innovation, Li added. He expressed his hope for the CSRC International Advisory Council members to keep providing valuable advice to the advancement of Shanghai’s finance and its efforts in building an international financial center.

Davies said the council members pay great attention to Shanghai endeavor in building an international financial center, and they congratulate Shanghai for its achievements in financial reforms, and look forward to closer exchanges with the city in its financial development.

Others present at the meeting included Jiang Yang and Fang Xinghai, vice chairmen of CSRC; Zhou Bo, executive vice-mayor of Shanghai; Zhuge Yujie, secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Committee, and Wu Qing, director-general of Shanghai Stock Exchange.
