Li Qiang, secretary of the CPC Shanghai Committee, met Ulises Guilarte, secretary general of Central Union of Cuban Workers, and his delegation on Tuesday.

Li welcomed his guests and briefed them on Shanghai’s economic and social development in recent years. He said China and Cuba have been good friends for a very long time, and General Secretary Xi Jinping of the CPC Central Committee has met Raul Modesto Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, for many times and pointed out the direction of the relationship between China and Cuba.

Li said that Shanghai and Santiago de Cuba Province are sister cities, enjoying close cooperation in trade and exchanges. Shanghai pays great attention to Cuba’s development, and has invested in many industries there.

Li hoped Shanghai and Cuba will strengthen the existing cooperation in trade, education, technologies, and cultural industries.

Guilarte spoke highly of the achievements made in the dialogue among the China Communist Party and other political parties in the world. Communist Party of Cuba values its friendship with China, and is willing to make more inter-party exchanges and strengthen cooperation.

Zhuge Yujie, secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Committee, also attended the meeting.
