Two trucks stopped by traffic police in suburban Songjiang District on Tuesday morning were found to be overloaded.
Each truck was carrying two trucks. In both cases, the total load exceeded the vehicle's capacity by 30 percent, police said.
The drivers will each be fined 500 yuan (US$80) and lose six points from their licenses.
The incident happened near the intersection of the Husong Highway and Jiujing Road. Police seized the trucks.
