YANGPU is planning to introduce more intelligent sports-related facilities in the district, its sports bureau said yesterday.

The district’s first riverside hub for joggers opened on March 11. The hub has intelligent changing rooms, which can be accessed with a QR code, beverage machines as well as digital maps.

Joggers can also charge their smartphones and buy some basic accessories like headband and knee sleeve.

The district said it will set up more such jogging facilities, backed by Nike, along the riverside. It will offer joggers high-tech sports products, information while also giving them fitness tests and professional scientific guidance.

The bureau said it also plans to build an intelligent fitness track in Huangxing Park.

It will upgrade the district sports center with Alisports, the sports arm of e-commerce giant Alibaba, and promote the mode of shared sports venue like Lefit’s staff-less gym.

Intelligent technology has also been applied to schools and residents living nearby will be allowed to access the exercise rooms during off-school hours.

Quanjian Sports, which is in charge of Shanghai Kunming School’s exercise activities, has designed an online program for locals to use the gym at the school via WeChat if they don’t have their the fitness card.

Yangpu has a district-level sports center, two sports parks, 603 fitness sites, 121 fitness tracks, 24 public sports fields, 20 public gyms and 42 swimming pools. It plans to build or renovate 45 fitness sites, 5 fitness tracks and a ball court.
