Shanghai mayor meets Israeli ambassador to China
Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Zvi Heifetz, Israeli ambassador to China, on May 16.
Ying said China and Israel’s relationship have always been friendly since the two established diplomatic relations. Shanghai and Israel and its city Haifa have carried out cooperation in trade, cultural and technological industries.
Shanghai is working hard to build itself into an influential technology and innovation center and Israel has its advantages in the technological industries, so the city hopes to promote cooperation in AI, medical treatment and intelligent manufacturing with Israel.
Shanghai welcomes Israeli scientists to carry out scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation and even to commercialize their scientific research findings in the city, Ying added.
Heifetz said Israel and China have a long history of friendship and he thanked Shanghai for providing sanctuary for a lot of Jewish refugees during the WWII. China has made great achievements and Israel is willing to support the Belt and Road initiative and deepen the cooperation in various industries with Shanghai.
