Large container ship delivered in Shanghai

A 21,237-TEU ultra-large container ship was delivered to the customer by the Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) in Shanghai on Tuesday.

The ship named Cosco Shipping Universe is 400 meters long and 58.6 meters wide. It has a maximum capacity of 198,000 tons.

The vessel was delivered to China COSCO Shipping Corporation and will be used on shipping lanes between the Far East and Europe.

The ship is designed to travel at 22 nautical miles per hour, and is equipped with advanced navigation control system, LAN system for the whole ship and satellite communication system.

Jiangnan Shipyard will produce five more such container ships for COSCO Shipping, scheduled to be delivered by 2019.
