Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met with Mark Weinberger, chairman and chief executive officer of Ernst & Young and chairman of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai, and his delegation in Shanghai on Thursday.

This year marks the 40th anniversary for China’s reform and opening up. As practice has approved, only by sticking to reform and opening up and strengthening international cooperation can China realize better development. As the frontier and window of reform and opening up, Shanghai will always deepen reform and expand opening up according to the instructions of President Xi Jinping, Li said.

Next month Shanghai will hold the 30th International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai with the theme of “Shanghai’s high-level opening up under new situation,” and the city hopes to hear the inspiring insights of international business leaders, Li added.

Weinberger said he is fully confident of the future development of China and Ernst & Young will be deeply committed to Chinese market. He expressed his willingness to participate in the development of Shanghai based on the platform of International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai.

Zhuge Yujie, secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Committee, also attended the meeting.
