BRI film week hits the screen

The Belt and Road Film Week kicked off in the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone in the Pudong New Area on Sunday, with 1,875 movies from 53 countries signed up. It’s the second time Pudong has hosted the film fest.

The Belt and Road Film Festival Alliance has members in 33 countries and from 38 film festival institutions. At the opening ceremony, 16 production companies signed agreements with the tourism zone to set up bases there.

Among these companies were Illumina, makers of Wolf Warrior series, More VFX, involved in Wandering Earth, and Base FX who helped out in Transformers and The Avengers 3.

Pudong has a 100-million-yuan (US$14.4-million) fund to support film-making.
