Ten measures have won this year’s innovation competition for medical reform.

The competition aims to improve health services and medical capabilities to meet rising demand.

Different levels of public hospitals, private and international medical facilities as well as other health-related sectors participated in the competition, which received 95 applications, according to the Shanghai Health Commission.

Among the measures are the metabolic disease management center of Ruijin Hospital. It provides diabetes patients online and offline disease inspection based on advanced medical equipment and Internet of Things.

A transportation network for critical children and a diagnosis and treatment system for critical children and rare diseases was established at Children’s Hospital of Fudan University.

The hospital set up the transportation network in 2002 for critical newborn babies and the network was expanded to all child patients under 18 years old. It not only transports local patients but also those in eastern China regions.

So far, the network has transferred more than 10,000 critical patients without loss of life.

Wu Jinglei, director of Shanghai Health Commission, said medical reform is an effective method to achieve the goal of full life care.
