Shanghai Chengtou Water Group is gearing up to ensure a stable water supply for the second China International Import Expo in less than 50 days' time.

Six maintenance crews will be on standby during the event to deal with any emergency.

The group upgraded the water safeguard system they made for the first expo by expanding its pollution monitoring function to the water source and drainage, covering the whole process of water consumption.

Meanwhile, targeting underground valves which are usually hard for maintenance workers to reach, the group developed a system that projects a 3D image of the pipe network on a screen which the workers use to match them to the actual site.

So far, more than 2,200 valves underground have been inspected with the help of the system.

Waste water from the expo venue will be processed by the recently completed Hongqiao Water Treatment Plant in Minhang District which can process over 200,000 cubic meters of water a day.
