A mostly sunny and warm start is expected to the week with the high back up to 27 degrees Celsius since Tropical Storm Tapah left the city.

Showers will return at the weekend but won't affect the temperature much.

Tropical Storm Tapah passed by Shanghai on Sunday as it moved northeast. Between 12am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday, Shuyuan area in the Pudong New Area received 45 millimeters of rain. Gust of wind at Yangshan port reached 23.9 meters par second.

On Monday, it will be mostly cloudy with drizzle in parts, then turn dry and cloudy through Thursday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the low in suburban areas is likely to drop to 15 to 18 degrees. Friday will see some scattered showers.

Monday is the beginning of solar term Qiufen, the Autumn Equinox. The arrival of meteorological autumn often comes in Qiufen or the following solar term Hanlu.

During Qiufen, the temperature difference between day and night grows to an average of 7 degrees.
