Former Songjiang official on bribes charges

Chen Xiaofeng, former deputy director of Songjiang District, has been charged with taking bribes and misfeasance by the No. 1 Branch of the Shanghai People's Procuratorate, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

Between 2004 and 2019, Chen allegelly took advantage of his positions as the director and Party working committee secretary of Zhongshan Subdistrict Office in Songjiang to seek profits for others on gaining the right to use state-owned land.

He is charged with accepting bribes with a huge amount of money involved. He is alleged to have abused his power and caused great loss to public property, prosecutors said.

Earlier this year, Chen was expelled from the Communist Party of China and removed from his position over serious violations of Party discipline and laws by the city's discipline inspection authorities.
