City airports check all Wuhan passengers
A temperature check point at Pudong airport awaits the arrival of passengers from Wuhan.
From Wednesday, all passengers flying from Wuhan to Shanghai are having their temperatures checked at Pudong and Hongqiao airports, the Shanghai Airport Authority said.
Anyone with a high temperature is given a mask and a health notice. Their details and contacts were registered.
They were then guided to the city's designated medical facilities for coronavirus prevention and control.
The airport authority said that, when necessary, both airports and will call local medical emergency centers to dispatch ambulance to take passengers with a fever to designated hospitals nearby.
Anyone feeling uncomfortable in the terminal buildings was being encouraged to accept medical checks at the airports' clinics.
According airport authority website, around 14 flights arrive from from Wuhan every day. They are mainly operated by China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines and China Southern Airlines.
Public areas at both airports' terminal buildings have undergone intensified disinfection measures, especially all the corridors and temperature check channels walked through by passengers from Wuhan flights, the authority said.
The 130 electronic screens at the arrival and departure levels at both airports have begun displaying coronavirus prevention and control knowledge. Pamphlets are also being given out to passengers at the terminal buildings.
The airports launched the measure following orders from national and city governments to prevent spread of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak, the authority said.
Central China's Hubei Province, of which Wuhan is the capital, has reported 375 novel coronavirus infection cases, including nine deaths.
Nationwide, 473 confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus had been reported.
Previously, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and other airports in neighboring Zhejiang Province had begun taking the temperatures of passengers arriving from Wuhan. Special boarding bridges and aprons are allocated for all passenger aircraft from the city.
Everyone flying in to the city from Wuhan are having their temperatures taken after they land at Pudong or Hongqiao airports.
