Auto industry company NuoNuo Co was found to be claiming in a WeChat article that its car purifier could resist the virus.



Shanghai's market watchdog revealed details of illegal advertisements related to the prevention of novel coronavirus pneumonia on Thursday.

The Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation said it had detected 20 illegal advertisement cases related to COVID-19 prevention and control.

Among them, cosmetology and hairdressing chain Shanghai Wenfeng was promoting a product as having anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects and resistance to the virus on its WeChat account, a violation of advertisement law.

Shanghai Kangjiu Disinfection Technology Co Ltd claimed on shopping website Tmall that its Icoler ozone generator could prevent the virus, another violation of the law, the administration said. 

In another case, auto industry company NuoNuo Co was found to be claiming in a WeChat article that its car purifier could resist the virus.

Shanghai Lixin Print Co broke the law in promoting common dust masks as masks that can protect against the virus and formaldehyde.

Shanghai Yunkai Information Science and Technology Co improperly used the words of Wang Guangfa, a member of the expert team of the National Health Commission and a pneumonia patient, to promote its eye protective glass for medical use on its WeChat account, the administration said.

It also said its disinfection products were a must in the battle against the pneumonia, another violation of advertisement law, the administration said.

Shanghai Jiushengyuan, a traditional Chinese medicine clinic, is being investigated for promoting a TCM treatment on its WeChat account.

Shanghai Ruichangqi International Trade Co is being investigated for claiming "lactoferricin can keep you far away from COVID-19 virus" to boost sales of a lactoferricin milk powder product online.
