One domestic coronavirus case reported in Shanghai

One new COVID-19 case from Hubei Province was confirmed in the city on Sunday, while no new imported cases reported, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Monday morning.

The new patient, a Hubei resident living in Qianjiang City, came to Shanghai to look for job on May 14 and went to a medical facility for coronavirus test voluntarily the next day. As the serological test was positive for coronavirus, the person was quarantined for medical observation on the day and started to develop symptoms during this period.

The case, tested positive by the Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention on nucleic acid check on Sunday, was confirmed infection based on epidemilogical study, clinical symptoms and results of lab test and imaging check.

The person has been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment while 20 close contacts in Shanghai have been tracked down for quarantine and observation, the health commission said.

The public places the new case has visited in Shanghai include Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station in Minhang District and Shanghai Maiju Hotel in the Pudong New Area. All relevant places have been properly disinfected.

So far, of all the 326 imported cases, 309 have been discharged upon recovery and 17 are still hospitalized, including one in critical condition and one in serious condition.

Another four imported suspected case are undergoing test.

Of all the 340 local cases, 332 have been discharged upon recovery. One patient is receiving treatment in the hospital. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No local suspected cases are undergoing check currently.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
