A rescue worker attending the scene of an accident where a bus had plunged into the Yangtze River learned that his elderly father had been on board, The Beijing News reported.

The accident in Chongqing on October 28 left at least 13 people dead.

An initial investigation showed that 15 people, including the bus driver, had been on board. Rescuers salvaged the wreck at about 11:30pm on Wednesday

When Chongqing Blue Sky Rescue arrived at the scene, Zhou Xiaobo, deputy chief of the rescue operation, learned about his 76-year-old father when his sister called to say he had been on the bus.

Zhou said his father had been just 2 minutes from his destination. Zhou has been busy with the rescue operation for four days and hasn't even had the time to identify the body of his father, a retired teacher, the newspaper said.
