Woman detained for blocking hospital emergency exit

The vehicle completely blocked the exit

A woman has been detained by police for blocking the emergency exit of a maternity hospital with her car and other suspected offenses, Beijing police said Tuesday.

The woman, Shan, parked a Rolls-Royce in front of the emergency exit of Beijing Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital for over an hour on August 14, 2019. She refused to move the car when requested by traffic police.

Chaoyang District police said Shan was put in administrative detention for five days. While police investigate other alleged offenses, she will remain detained, the police said on their official Weibo account, without elaborating what other offense are.

They are also investigating the registration of the luxury vehicle.

Shan claimed she was in a hurry as she was running late for her appointment, The Beijing News reported earlier.

Shan made a tearful apology when interviewed by The Beijing News. She said the car belonged to a friend and she was sorry for causing such trouble.
