A skywalk will be built in Xinjiangwan Town, Yangpu District, the city’s top planning body said.

The pentagon-shaped skywalk with a total length of 361 meters will be built at the intersection of three busy streets — Songhu, Zhayin and Sanmen roads.

The deck will be 6 to 10 meters wide to be able to cope with large numbers of pedestrians, the Shanghai Planning, Land and Resources Administration said.

Escalators and elevators will also be installed, the administration said.

The administration began soliciting public opinions on the skywalk plan on Tuesday and will do so through August 31. People can go to a reception center at 716 Songhu Road to submit their opinions.
