Lens on Lianghui: Day One

This year's Lianghui — or Two Sessions — the city’s most important annual political sessions, has begun. Throughout this important week, Shanghai Daily's Andy Boreham will give you a quick roundup of each day's proceedings. Check out the roundup of Day One below.

So what exactly is Lianghui? Despite being Shanghai's most important annual meetings — a time where the course for Shanghai's next twelve months and beyond is set — not many people understand the sessions, or even know they exist!
