WeChat scan payment enabled on ferry, others to follow

By the end of October, all bus routes in the city and all 10 ferry routes shuttling alongside the 45-kilometre Huangpu riverfront will support WeChat payment.

Starting from Tuesday, passengers commuting on the ferry between Qichangzhan Wharf in the Pudong New Area and Qinghuangdao Ferry Pier in Hongkou District are able to pay their fares using a WeChat scan.
The payment method, which debuted last month on selected bus routes, will cover all bus routes in the city, as well as all 10 ferry routes along the Huangpu riverfront, by the end of October, the city’s public transport card company Jiushi Cooperation confirmed.
